After your hospital stay, you may be surprised to receive multiple different bills for the same hospital stay. Hospital billing can be a frustrating experience.
While the hospital sends you a bill for all of the hospital services provided during your stay, many surgeons, radiologists, and other specialists who care for you during your hospital are not employees of the hospital. These specialists will bill you or your insurance company directly after your hospital stay.
Your hospital bill includes services such as:
- Nursing services
- Operating rooms or equipment used
- Food services
- Supplies like medications, bedding, bandages, gowns, etc.
You may receive separate bills for the services provided by surgeons, radiologists, cardiologists, etc.
